Wine Down on Georgia’s Wine Trail!

Long time no see adventure friends! It’s been a while since our last adventure, we’re so sorry! We needed some time to get through the holidays and regroup! We have some exciting adventures planned for 2020, but before we say good bye to 2019 we took a last minute trip up to North Georgia Wine Country!

Among the cozy mountains of North Georgia are some of the most beautiful and award winning wineries and vineyards in the Southeast! Yesterday we explored a few of the Georgia Wine Trail’s best!

First things first, we checked into one of our most favorite hotels in Dahlonega, The Limelight Inn. You guys, this place is amazing! It’s Airbnb style accommodations, meaning there is no hotel staff and you check yourself in using a keypad. Beyond being absolutely beautiful inside and out, they serve a delicious home cooked breakfast in the mornings which is included with your stay. It’s family owned and operated, and they are just the most lovely people. We’ve stayed there several times and we swear it gets better each trip. Book a quiet weekend with your spouse or a fun weekend with the girls, you’re going to LOVE Limelight!

Our first winery stop of the day was Frogtown. We had a tasting and then a really delicious lunch of wood fire pizzas and sandwiches. They were a bit short staffed, so the service was just ok. The wine was interesting, but the tasting room/restaurant was pretty disheveled and we were a little distracted by the chaos. Overall, it’s a very pretty and popular place on the wine trail and we certainly recommend their bistro!

Next we drove over to the nearby Kaya Vineyards. They boast spectacular mountain views and a large selection of wines. We had a glass of their Reserve Merlot and admired the gorgeous Mount Yonah from their covered deck. A great place for gathering with family and friends! They serve some light fare and have an adorable gift shop! Make sure Kaya is on your Georgia wine tour bucket list!

The next stop offered equally stunning mountain views with a cozy little tasting room and an inviting patio. Cottage Vineyards and Winery is quickly becoming one of our faves! We recommend their Syrah or their Babydoll Legs Rosé if you fancy something a little on the sweet side. The man who served us in the tasting room was friendly and informative, we look forward to spending more time at Cottage in the future!

Cottage Vineyards and Winery

Last, but definitely not least, our beloved Cavender Creek Vineyards and Winery. Y’all, we love this place so much. We’ve watched it grow from a tiny little tasting barn, to the beautiful tasting room/event space it is now. The new tasting room is so lovely with two covered decks and an awesome patio with built in fire pits. There’s a play area for children and some farm animals on site. Their wine is something special too! Our favorite red is their Black Jack and for white wine lovers we highly recommend the Viognier! We always end our wine trips at Cavender, there’s just something special about this place that keeps us coming back for more.

Georgia’s wine country has something for everyone! There are so many more wineries that we didn’t even mention, that are just as fantastic. Not a wine drinker? Not a problem! Most of the wineries offer beer and sodas too, so you can go and enjoy your favorite beverage with your favorite wine loving friends and family. We’ve become very fond of this region of Georgia over the past few years and we know you’ll love it too! The wine trail is calling y’all and you must go! Cheers friends!
