Hey y’all! We hopped back on our adventure wagon last Friday and discovered the beauty that is Clayton, Georgia! Pretty little boutiques, quaint restaurants, snowy mountain views and lovely, inviting residents made Clayton one our most favorite adventures yet!
We started our adventure about 45 minutes south of Clayton in Sautee, where we grabbed a quick coffee on our way up at the adorable Sweetwater Coffeehouse. Tiny and eclectic, you’ll want to curl up inside with a latte, a slice of banana bread and your favorite book! The friendly barista made our experience even better! We loved Sweetwater Coffeehouse as much as we loved their slogan, “Sleepless in Sautee”!

We grabbed our espresso and got back on the road toward Clayton, but not before stopping for a quick, and very cold, hike at the stunning Tallulah Gorge State Park! We parked at the super cool Jane Hurt Interpretive Center where you can learn all about the history of the gorge and the creatures that inhabit it. From there we hiked up to a couple of overlooks and took in some incredible views from the top! Next, we headed down into the gorge and across the suspension bridge to view an impressive waterfall and some intense rushing waters from all of the rain we’ve been experiencing. There are A LOT of steps involved in this hiking adventure, so be prepared to take your time! Its worth every single step though, we promise. Don’t miss Tallulah Gorge, it’s a true Georgia gem for sure!

After the gorge, and ALL those steps, we finished our journey 20 minutes up the road in Clayton. Y’all, we fell in love. It is cozy and warm and enchanting. All of the things you wish a small mountain town to be. We ate lunch in a gorgeous little cafe called, Grapes & Beans. The inside was comfy and chic, and the food was exceptional. We ordered sandwiches which were served with a broccoli salad side and some pickles made in house that were SO yummy! The owners were so kind and accommodating. We can’t wait to go back and try Grapes & Beans for some dinner and wine!

Next we took our time exploring some of the adorable shops and then dropped into The Farm House for some fresh donuts! Because, like we’ve said time and time again, donuts are life y’all! There were donut options galore, but we settled for the “Cow Pattie” and the “Squeelin’ Pig.” There was chocolate and peanut butter, there was bacon and maple frosting. It was everything good and perfect, and you must go there and experience it for yourself!

Lastly we happened upon a cool little tasting room, Noble Wine Cellar. They offered wine tastings of their very own meads and a couple of other local vineyards, as well as beer flights from some Georgia breweries. We opted for a flight each and discovered some really tasty new brews! It was a neat place and the server was super sweet! Be sure to stop by for a tasting of your choice!

If these adventures have taught us anything y’all, it’s that these destinations are only as great as the people who live there and Clayton was just the sweetest little town. The people and the places that we encountered really made a lasting impression on us. We cannot wait to go back and spend more time in there. Go get comfy in Clayton y’all, we promise you won’t want to leave!
Love your adventure sisters,
Caroline and Suzanne
