Hey y’all! Forgive us for the delayed post! We had another quick adventure last week which landed us in the lush landscape of Dawsonville, Georgia. A small, sleepy little town nestled in the mountains. Home to the impressive Amicalola Falls and the starting point for the famous Appalachian Trail!
We started the morning at Because Coffee. A newly opened coffee roaster and shop. They only offered a couple of varieties of coffee, but the dark blend we tried was bold and smooth! The owner was welcoming and friendly, definitely worth grabbing a cup of joe if you’re in the area.
Per our usual, we fueled up with our coffees and headed toward the trails. This week we revisited a favorite hike we frequented as kiddos. 604, pretty steep, steps will take you to the top of Amicalola Falls for breathtaking waterfall and Mountain View’s. At the top of the falls you will also find the Lynn Foote Hike Inn Trail Head and the Approach to the Appalachian Trail. The state park has a small campground, lodge and a handful of cottages if you want to make a weekend out of it! Such a pretty little state park, one of my all time favorites. Go climb the waterfall y’all, it’ll take your breath away in more ways than one!
Basically across the street from Amicalola Falls State Park is the famous Burt’s Farm. It has just about every variety of pumpkin you can imagine, a cute little country store and fun hayrides for the family! It’s the perfect spot to get into the Fall spirit. Throw on your favorite Fall flannel and get on up to Burt’s!
For lunch we decided to depart Dawsonville and head for one of our favorites about 30 minutes down the road in Jasper, Georgia, 61 Main. Y’all, they serve farm to table goodness that will keep you coming back for more! With daily specials and an amazing brunch on Saturdays, you need 61 Main in your life! Since it’s fairly small we recommend making reservations for dinner, but we’ve never had issues walking in for brunch or lunch. Try the Fried Green Tomato BLT, it’ll change your world!
Another short, but sweet adventure last week. We’re still sinking back into our busy school and sports schedules, thanks for being patient with us! However, this week’s adventure takes us to a famous landmark on the other side of town and we can’t wait to share it with you guys!
