Hey y’all! It’s Friday and you know what that means, ADVENTURE DAY! Today we ventured not too far from home to our easterly neighbor Cumming, Georgia.
First things first, coffee! We stopped into a hip little coffee joint, Community Cup Coffeehouse and Bar. Contemporary yet cozy, the coffee was hot and delicious as were the selection of scones and donuts! We would have ordered one of their yummy looking hot breakfast biscuits or croissants, but we didn’t notice the menu until we had already finished ordering. I guess we’ll just have to go back!
All fueled up on caffeine and sugar, we took to the trails! A short drive from Community Cup is the Sawnee Mountain Preserve. An awesome park with multiple trail heads and picnic shelters, as well as a playground. The Indian Seats Trail is one of its shorter loops, but it boasts big, beautiful views.
After working up a pretty good sweat on the trail, we headed back into Cumming. We drove around for a bit trying to discover some interesting shops or restaurants, but we weren’t very successful. There is a huge courthouse in the middle of the city square, but not much else from what we could tell. The traffic was pretty heavy and we were driving around aimlessly, so if any Cumming folks know of some good places we’d love to hear from you so we can go back and give them a try!
For lunch we indulged in some house favorites at Cherry Street Brewing Restaurant and Tap Room—Home of Rick Tanners and then had a flight each in the tap room. Good food, interesting beer, head on over there for a fun afternoon or evening!
For dessert we swung by one of our personal favorites, Dutch Monkey Doughnuts, because doughnuts are life y’all! You must go try a strawberry bar, it will change your life. If you’re not into strawberries (you’re obviously crazy) they have a large assortment of other flavors that change daily! Make the trip, eat all the doughnuts, you won’t regret it!
Cumming is casual and quaint, but it was perfect for a close to home adventure day. Thanks for the memories, Cumming!

This is an awesome idea Suzanne and Caroline. I wish you all the best with this venture.
