Hey y’all! Last Friday we took a little jaunt up to Jasper for a quickie adventure. We had a scrumptious home-cooked breakfast, took a chilly hike in the Dawson Wilderness and got cozy in one of our favorite wineries!
For breakfast we stopped into a bakery we’ve had our eye on for quite a while, Papa’s Bakery & Deli. We had a breakfast platter each, cooked by Papa himself, and shared a cherry roll. Everything was very tasty and the bakery itself is adorably decorated. Did we mention they also serve lunch?! Papa and his wife are as sweet as their delicious desserts, so hurry by Papa’s for a taste of home.

After breakfast we were ready to get our hike on, so we headed up to Fall Creek Trail. The trail starts at the top of a mountain and basically goes straight down for the first mile. Then it flattens out and there’s a beautiful creek and waterfall. The creeks were quite high from all of the rain, so make sure you’re prepared as you will need to cross a few times to access the waterfall. The way back is a serious burner, we definitely hiked off our breakfast!

After hiking we drove a little further up the mountain to Eagle’s Rest. Maintained by Boy Scouts, it’s a really cool park with some pretty spectacular views. It was a little cloudy Friday, but we still could see downtown Atlanta and Kennesaw mountain. Bring a book or a journal, and enjoy some quiet time on Eagles Rest!

Last, but obviously not least we swung by one of our favorite wineries for a glass of wine and a picnic! Fainting Goat Vineyards and Winery has beautiful views, a friendly staff and of course great wines! They also have, you guessed it, goats! We had the tasting room to ourselves and it was snowing while we’re there, which made for the perfect Friday afternoon in the mountains.

We love Jasper for its friendly people, pretty hiking trails and close proximity to metro Atlanta. Take your own little jaunt up to Jasper, you’ll be so glad you did!
