Happy Wednesday y’all! Last week for our adventure we drove up the road to Chatsworth, Georgia home of Fort Mountain State Park! You’ll want to put this one on your Fall bucket list, it was fantastic.
To start the day we swung by a local breakfast favorite near downtown Chatsworth, The Biscuit Box. They had us at biscuit, but what we found inside was so much more! A huge breakfast menu with way more than just delicious, homemade, fluffy, buttery biscuits. They had cooked to order breakfast platters made by a bunch of sweet southern ladies that filled our bellies and our hearts. The rustic decor inside was cozy and warm, and made us feel like we had stepped right back into our Nana’s kitchen. They also serve lunch, so make sure to check out The Biscuit Box if you’re in the area.

Next was the Show Stopper! Fort Mountain State Park was totally awesome y’all! It’s literally nestled in the woods on top of Fort Mountain and it’s absolutely beautiful! There are multiple hiking options, with the longest being the 8 mile Gahuti trail. All of the trails have beautiful lookout points with spectacular views. There’s also a campground and cabins, and a recreational area with a beach for the warmer months. If you’re a history buff be sure to check out it’s prehistoric Stone Wall and the Fire Lookout Tower that was constructed in the 1930’s, so cool! We could have stayed there all day, or all weekend for that matter!

On the way home we opted for the scenic route which took us back through Ellijay, but before we reached Ellijay we stumbled upon another beautiful lookout point. The Chattahoochee National Forest Overlook-Cohutta. A small climb up a short, steep hill will deliver another round of breath taking mountain views!

Last week’s adventure was pretty laid back because it was a fairly long drive for us. No traffic though, just a good bit north of where we live. We can not recommend Fort Mountain State Park enough. Fun and relaxation for the whole family! We can’t wait to take our crews back.
Have you noticed yet how much we love the mountains?! Drive on up to Fort Mountain y’all, you’ll see why in no time!
